Nguyên liệu

Main

  • 100g beef (thinly sliced)

Aromatics & Greens

  • 20g betel leaves (~6 leaves, chopped or torn by hand)

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

Seasoning & Flavoring

  • 1/3 tbsp oyster sauce (dầu hào)

  • 1 tsp unsalted butter (bơ lạt)

  • Salt/pepper (to taste)

  • Optional: A splash of fish sauce or soy sauce depending on regional preference

How to choose fresh beef:

  • Good-quality beef should have a bright red color—not too dark—with fat marbled evenly in yellowish-white streaks.
  • When touched, the meat should feel soft and elastic, not too dry or slimy.
  • Avoid beef that looks pale green, has a dull surface, or shows tiny black spots—these are signs the meat has spoiled.

How to choose fresh piper betel leaves:

  • Select leaves that are large, uniformly sized, thick, and deep green.
  • They should be intact, not torn or overly bruised.
  • Avoid leaves that are too dark green, as these are usually older and may have a tougher texture and less flavor.
